Early Learning Childcare Sitting On The Floor And Play With Wooden Cubes

What is ‘play-based learning’?

We have a play-based learning strategy which encourages young children to make sense of their world and learn vital foundational skills within exploration, developing and practising language and physical skills and experimenting with new concepts. Children develop confidence, express themselves creatively, and develop their sense of self and identity. Besides personal exploration, they additionally learn co-operation and how to build relations and engage in a group.

Children will be encouraged to play independently, in small groups, in large groups, indoors and outdoors. Activities vary from building spatial perception with playdough or blocks to sharpening fine motor skills and awareness of colours and shapes with drawing and painting.

What is the Early Years Learning Framework?

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) represents the principles, practices and outcomes required for children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as transition to school. It’s part of the Australian Government’s National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care. The framework has strong importance on play-based learning, identifying the quality of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional growth. There are five learning outcomes defined by the EYLF:

  • 1. Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • 2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • 3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • 4. Children are confident and involved learners.
  • 5. Children are effective communicators.
Supporting Children with Additional Needs

What support is available for children with additional needs?

We are enthusiastic about assuring all children have passage to early learning and have tools and resources in place in our centre to support children with particular requirements or additional needs – from allergies to greater care needs such as physical or learning disabilities or behavioural concerns. Please speak with your Director about how we can work together to support your child’s individual needs.

Amazing childcare centre! All the educators are so friendly and welcoming. Our little one has grown so much confidence since attending Seedlings and you can see how comfortable she feels there when you drop her off and she runs off to greet all her educators and friends. They have lots of amazing, fun activities that they get all the children involved in (no matter how big or small). We’ve been made to feel like a part of their family since the first day we arrived.

Our middle child did his preschool year with Amelia here and he had a great start to school. The kindy program took them for a visit to St Peters and were a brilliant foundation for his prep year. Our youngest child started at 10 months old going 5 days a week and is now about to turn 4. She loves this centre and all the staff. She can’t wait for Monday’s.
